Miguel and Cynthia were really nice at check-in, and they let us arrive early, which was great. We hadn’t realized when booking through our credit card portal that this was a timeshare property. We didn’t use the pools or other amenities, though they looked great. Recycling is available on site. The only downside was signing up for the Orange Lake Resort timeshare presentation. Cynthia said it would be 90 minutes, but we were there for three hours. It only ended when I gave them an extremely firm no. That wasn’t a good experience, and I wouldn’t recommend signing up.

The $75 early check-in fee and $50 late checkout fee were never mentioned, despite my multiple calls to IHG corporate and the night clerk to ask about all the costs. I’d booked directly through IHG and explained I wanted somewhere quiet, modern, and nice, but this was the place they recommended. I’d never been charged for early check-in before, and the late checkout fee was also unexpected. We booked a three-bedroom villa, and I say run. The carpets clearly hadn’t been deep cleaned; our socks turned black walking on them. The TVs were small and outdated, and the controllers barely worked. An outlet adapter by the bed almost fried my laptop, so I had to unplug it. When the AC came on, it smelled moldy, and some of our group woke with sore throats. My partner and I woke up with bites all over us from the master bedroom bed. Two of the three beds were uncomfortable. The towels and bathroom were clean, which may be the only positive. Managers couldn’t fix issues caused by the “miscommunication,” especially after I repeatedly explained what I’d been told by IHG corporate customer service. We could hear every car driving past, which kept us and the little one with us from sleeping. IHG members are charged a $150 deposit here, while other properties charge $50 or waive it. Two of the three front desk women were rude, especially the second-shift woman, who wouldn’t listen when I tried to explain. The manager heard us, came out, and was the only person there that evening who seemed to care. I left a message for corporate customer service or the GM to call me back, but nobody responded, and it’s been almost a week. The property is cashless, and the arcade machines are super expensive. It’s outdated and badly needs a refurb. The parks are 45 minutes away if you’re lucky. It took us more than an hour and a half from S.World. I’ve been a longtime IHG customer, and it’s normally my go-to for events and travel. My reviews are usually positive, and I like talking about good places, employees, and the brand. The hotel itself and its amenities were really nice, and our stay was lovely, so I let the first surprise fee go. The booking said all fees were included except incidentals, but when we arrived they said the resort fees weren’t covered and charged us there. After the trip, another $40 appeared on my card. I called to ask about it, and the woman I spoke with said she’d follow up. A week later I called again, only to hear she no longer worked there. They then denied making any extra charge, despite my proof. With no explanation for taking the money, I won’t stay here again.

The staff were really pleasant, and the rooms were comfortable and nice. I didn’t have time to try the complimentary breakfast, but it looked and smelled delicious. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area. I gave the rooms four stars because there’s always room to improve 😊.
