Travelodge by Wyndham Kissimmee/Orlando

Customer service made a terrible stay even worse. They told me to wait until the next day before they could decide what to do. The floor was filthy, there was mold in the bathroom, and several floor tiles were broken. Even the bathroom lock was fitted backwards. Horrible experience.

A handy, easy-to-reach place to stay while traveling around Central Florida. Staff were respectful, and it covered the basics for a quick stop. It’s an affordable option near the Orlando/Kissimmee area.

We slept pretty well and, for a low-rated motel, had a decent stay. Parking was easy, and we couldn’t hear the neighbors. The staff were friendly, check-in was allowed until just before midnight, and the area has plenty to see and do. Our room had decent space, a comfortable bed, working TV, internet, outlets, and mini fridge. There were two bars of soap and a tiny bottle each of shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast was included in a very small area beside check-in. The selection was limited, but it tasted good and saved us a couple of bucks: waffles, coffee and milk, two juices, cereal, and little packaged yogurts. The room looked old, and the bathroom could use updating. The curtains were stained, the wooden furniture scratched, and the AC worked well but was dusty. There was a cigarette smell each time we entered. I can’t say if the previous guest caused it, and after a few minutes we stopped noticing it. Every now and then there was a loud noise, possibly when we got out of bed. We expected worse after reading reviews, so it wasn’t too bad for what we paid, especially with breakfast. Three stars.

The rooms feel dated, even though they’ve put in new flooring. The doors are old, and some bathroom doors are broken, with a gap about two inches wide underneath. In my second room there was a box of condoms on the TV stand, and the sheets were still dirty at check-in. They moved me, but the next mattress was stained and covered with a mattress protector. They also tried to add charges to my bill, although I’d booked through a separate company.
