I checked into your Davenport hotel on 4/17/26. The location is handy, just across the parking lot from Publix and restaurants, and the room itself is good if you can put up with the smell. But the whole hotel smelled like a kennel. On my way upstairs, I found dog urine pooled on the elevator floor, and it absolutely stank. I told Alexis at reception, and the next time I used the elevator, it had been cleaned. My room smelled of dogs too, even the bedding. The only armchair looked like it had been used as a chew toy. I can provide a photo if needed. Having to pay for internet in the room also seems mean spirited. Leave your nose at home.

A month after my first stay, I came back for over a week. The earlier visit was a safe, budget-friendly three-night stay, with a great location a short walk from Publix and other eateries. The rooms were what you’d expect for the price, and Christine at the front desk gave wonderful customer service, five stars. This time I was due to check in at 3 pm, but got there at 3 am after bad travel times, which was my fault. I waited patiently in the lobby until something opened for breakfast. At 5:30 am I asked the overnight staff member, a young man with short dark hair, if I could use the bathroom and explained that I was checking in that day. He said he couldn’t let anyone in and wasn’t allowed to. The bathroom was five steps away, and he was cleaning next to it. Nothing was open within walking distance, and I’d taken a Lyft there. Guess where I had to go before spending $500 here. Was that poor customer service, or a poor WoodSpring policy? One star.

It’s 2:50 am, and someone above my room is dropping weights so loudly I expect them to come through the ceiling. The comforters are a Cheeto color and seem a little stained, and the wall unit AC sounds like it needs a new belt. We chose the place because of its great Expedia reviews and pet-friendly policy.
