Comfort Inn Foxboro – Mansfield

The room itself was decent, with a comfortable enough firm bed, a nice shower, plenty of outlets and USB plugs near the bed, and other useful amenities. But I had to pull the desk away from the wall to reach its outlet and plug in my laptop. The second floor ice machine had power but made no ice, the third floor one was dead, and only the first floor machine worked. Finding the place was confusing. It’s a Comfort Inn and a Mainstay Suites in one building, but signage only pointed out the Mainstay desk. We drove around before realizing both hotels use the same entrance and front desk. The elevator smelled strongly of smoke, even though smoking is supposed to be prohibited. We also couldn’t use our room cards at the door by the elevator, so had to go all the way to the entrance near the front desk, across the building from our room. The next morning’s advertised “free hot breakfast” was a huge letdown. No waffle machine, eggs, or anything like that, and the juice machine was out of order. The “Kul” machine served only water instead of coffee. It was nowhere near what the pictures showed, and felt downright deceptive. My wife and I stayed one night. This wasn’t the worst hotel we’ve ever been in, but all these problems made it hard to recommend, or to want to return.

I haven’t stayed here myself, but I had guests stay before COVID. Hearing from a more recent reviewer that their room was dirty and they had to sleep sitting up in a chair makes me reluctant to have anyone stay here again unless the place is fully redone, including the furniture and sheets. It was used as a migrant hotel for the past couple of years, and it seems like it needs a complete makeover before going back to operating as a regular hotel. Otherwise, it keeps getting poor ratings. When people stay for free, they don’t take care of things because there’s no value.

I went to the lobby to report the problems, but nobody was at the desk for about half an hour. Once a staff member showed up, we were moved to another room. That one still had garbage and dirty sheets, plus grime on the nightstand that looked like somebody’s boogers. I ended up sleeping upright in a chair. It was a terrible stay, and I won’t be back or recommend the hotel. We’d checked in, dropped off our bags, then left for a Nelly concert. When we came back to settle in, the sheets had bloodstains, as if the bed had been made again without changing them. There was also trash under the bathroom counter and near the table.

Really good stay. The staff were kind, and breakfast was included in the morning.
