The wedding spot is gorgeous, and the staff handling the bar and the rest of the event were fantastic. My family stayed in cabin 10 on the lake, I think. It had some charming little touches, including a small boat for us to use and a journal where guests could write about their stay and read other people’s entries. There’s no WiFi anywhere, which might be easier to accept if the stay weren’t so expensive. Parking at the venue wasn’t great, but it worked out since most wedding guests were in the cabins within walking distance.

The lawn, bonfire, and upstairs and downstairs areas of the barn gave guests plenty of choices for the reception and cocktail hour, including room to play games. The outdoor ceremony also had a lovely view into the woods. And those were the fanciest port-a-potties I’ve ever seen.

The cabins are packed close together and feel outdated. Our toilet sat unevenly on the floor, and the shower was so cramped I could barely move. There isn’t much to do with the 10 pm curfew, either. One paddle boat was taking on water and couldn’t be used, and when my son tried a water bike, its chain was broken. Minnesota has plenty of other cabins, so I wouldn’t spend my money here.

I stayed in cabin 5, right by the water, for a wedding. Each cabin had its own character, and ours was clean, really comfortable, and had everything we needed. I’d come back for a family vacation.

It’s a really quiet lake resort, with no ski boats or jet skis. I didn’t need any help, but I had a nice chat with Chris while he was shuttling some boats.
