Hampton Inn & Suites Frederick-Fort Detrick

My only complaint was mold growing in the shower in room 518. I didn't bring it up because I was in a hurry to hit the road, but at such a fine property I'd expect a mold-free bathroom. Otherwise, this is a great hotel in a safe, secure area. The rooms and hotel were very clean, the beds super comfortable, and the morning breakfast was tasty and well stocked.

I found bed bugs in my room, which is unacceptable. When I reported it, staff just remade the bed and let another guest check in without dealing with the pest problem. They promised me a free night for the inconvenience, but I never received it. This was a very disappointing stay. I can't recommend the hotel, won't be coming back, and urge others to consider their options carefully.

The front desk staff were very friendly, and the room was nice except for the toilet, which sat super low. Breakfast was a real disappointment. We got downstairs just before 9:30, though breakfast runs until 10, and they were out of meat, potatoes, and oatmeal. The attendant said she wasn't refilling anything. I counted 42 people in the breakfast area while we waited in line, with several more arriving after us. I've never been to a Hilton property that didn't keep breakfast available until 10, especially with so many people still waiting to eat.

The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool, and everyone found something they liked at the breakfast buffet. The location worked perfectly for us, with easy access to downtown Frederick. But our two-bedroom suite was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in. There were stains all over the carpet and couch cushions, stains on the desk chair, and yellowish marks in the bathtub. We all felt dirty just being there. There were no extra blankets or pillows for the sofa bed, and we were disappointed there was no hot tub. If the room had been clean and free of stains, this could have been a four-star review instead of the one star we're giving. Next time we'll stay somewhere else.
