Americas Best Value Inn

For an overnight stop, this was better than I expected. My room had plenty of space, the bed was comfortable, and I finally got a good night's sleep. There are stores and restaurants nearby, and the location is handy for the highway. The price was reasonable, especially with Choice Rewards. I was quite pleased and would come back.

The room was dirty, the bathroom was gross, and the lobby smelled. There were odd stains on the couch, the TV didn’t work, and the water never got properly hot. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The only thing I can say in this place’s favor is that it’s just off the highway and easy to get to. We rated the location a 3. My husband and I were driving back to N.H from a beautiful trip through F.L, G.A, and S.C, exhausted and hoping for a clean bed. The sheets may have been the only clean thing in the room. The photos on the initial direction page look like standard webpage pictures and don’t match these rooms. From the outside it looked okay, but inside there was a stained, nasty 1990s pullout couch and a musty smell. The floors were dingy and dirty, and vacuuming isn’t enough for fake wood floors; they need a broom and wet jet. There were urine stains behind the toilet. The shower looked clean, but I didn’t risk using it, and the caulking needs replacing. Furniture was chipped and needed a full washdown, and the refrigerator didn’t work. After dark, some of the other occupants made the area feel sketchy and not kid-friendly. Not recommended at all.

The people at the front desk were nice, and the landscaping is very well cared for. That made me expect a decent stay, and it was. I paid $75 including tax for the night. Room 117 had a clean bed and no bugs. The newer mattress was very firm, and the mattress and pillows seemed fairly clean. The tub was clean too, though it had been painted and was slippery, so I used a hand towel as a bath mat. The floor needed a deep clean, but at least it was vinyl rather than carpet. The room smelled musty; it had been raining all week, so I suspect that was part of it. I think the people who run the hotel live on site, since there was a grill and kids’ outdoor toys like in many pictures. Friday night was really quiet. I’d stay again if I’m in the Fredericksburg area.
