Clarion Inn Fredericksburg North

We felt safe here, and the hotel is near lots of places, with restaurants within walking distance. Check-in was great, and the room was convenient. The man at the front desk was friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived. My daughter and husband both said we should book here next time we're in fredricksburg. The breakfast was AMAZING, too. It wasn't just a grab-and-go.

The upgraded lobby gave a misleading impression compared with the rest of the complex. Our room was clean, but everything else felt dated and poorly maintained. I stayed here 7-8 years ago and had a pleasant experience, so this was a real disappointment. The breakfast was extremely disappointing too, and shouldn't be advertised as hot. For what we paid, I felt taken advantage of. They hadn't clearly disclosed that the upper floors were closed because they were collapsing, and the pool was shut as well. Unhoused people were quite prevalent on the property. Evidently there has been no maintenance.

Breakfast was pretty basic: powdered eggs, sausages, white bread, waffles, packaged Danish, and cereal if you like Raisin Bran, the only cereal they had. The indoor pool was empty and had dirt on the bottom. We arrived very late. The pitted concrete paths and metal stairs looked like something from an episode of Reacher on Netflix, but the room and beds seemed clean enough, so we stayed. In the morning, we found a small dead cricket in the sheets and a huge moth in the folded towels. The bench cushion had a big ugly stain, and there was another stain on the back of the chair where someone's head rested. The shower control wouldn't pull all the way up, so half the water still came from the tub spout. There were paint drips on the bathroom floor and chipped mirrors, and one of the two sinks drained poorly. At least there was plenty of hot water. Stay somewhere else.

They seem to be renovating, but the bathroom paint was peeling and we didn't have any hot water.
