Extended Stay America Premier Suites - Fredericksburg

The room kept heating up to 79 degrees in February even with the heat off. The AC did work well and cooled it down quickly, but it was strange for it to get that warm. After midnight on both nights, we also couldn't get cold water from either sink or the shower, even with the faucets set to cold. It worked normally during the day. There were good parts: the hotel was nice, the beds comfortable, the kitchenette great, and the staff friendly and helpful. The elevator broke as we were checking in, though, so the four of us had to carry a lot of bags upstairs. Richard and Matthew at the desk helped us with them, which we appreciated. We'd think twice about staying again because of those issues.

The front desk was no help at all and told me to find somewhere more accommodating. We were due to arrive late, and they said the system would be down after 1:30 AM, so I'd have to wait an hour and a half in the lobby until it came back. They also said I'd owe an early check-in fee because it would count as a new day, while I'd still probably have to check out by 11. The front desk staff were incredibly rude. Fine, I'll stay somewhere else. Garbage hotel and service.

I picked this place for its convenient location off 95 on the way from Kings Dominion to DC/Maryland. They wouldn't honor my prepaid booking, then charged me a $96 “early check-in fee” for arriving after midnight. They also said they had to check the room before giving me a receipt, which was a policy I'd never heard of. These practices felt shady, and I don't plan to return to Extended Stay.

Everything was good for the price. The location is hard to beat, with whatever you need just 5 to 10 minutes away. The room was clean, though we had to ask for a pot and spoons since the rooms aren't fully equipped, I guess to keep them clean. Oddly, the pot I got was dirty.
