Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Fredericksburg by IHG

Customer service was the best part of our stay. The room was a decent size, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was good, with a pancake maker. The indoor pool was freezing, both the water and the room, and there were no towels. We asked for some, but nobody brought them. The only ice machines that worked were on the first floor. I'd stay at this hotel again, but those things are worth considering.

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was good overall. The rooms look updated, but the furnishings seem cheap, with lots of dents and dings. They put a new mirror on the wall, but you could still see where the previous, larger one had been. The hotel is squeezed into a congested area beside another hotel, and it was pretty noisy. You could easily hear people outside, and a truck backing up at 4am was a treat. Fine for one night.

You can make it through a night here, but don't expect the best. The shower was rusting and moldy, the shower wall was stained, and the toilet seat was peeling. The tissue holder wasn't in place, with what looked like plaster just slapped over it. It all gives the impression the owner doesn't care much. The photos show little details that are completely inappropriate for a hotel room. Come on now 💀😂

When I arrived around 3:00 pm, the place already felt seedy. I asked the nice young man at the desk if the parking was safe, and he froze before saying yes. I told him he didn't sound sure, and he explained that he'd answered that way because most people ask where to park. After dinner, I parked at 8 pm. Less than 10 minutes later, I looked out and saw a man standing in the lot in front of my parking spot, staring at my car. I started reading more reviews. One after another mentioned cars being broken into, women not feeling safe outside after dark, and the homeless camp right outside the hotel. The side entrance by the elevators also doesn't lock. I was told to pull hard on it and it would open. I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't safe, so I left shortly before 11 pm. The photo I added was of one of the homeless gentlemen sitting up for the night. My room itself was clean, and it was nice that the heat was on when I arrived.
