WoodSpring Suites Fredericksburg

Miss Melissa, the house keeper, was awesome. She was lovely to talk to, and other guests spoke highly of her too. The front desk and maintenance staff kept checking that my needs were met, so thanks to all of you for being so helpful. I had an online related check-in issue, but they fixed it quickly. The stay was quiet, the staff were very friendly, and I had a great time. I'd stay again.

I travel around 100 nights a year, and this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. There were roaches all over the room. I killed five myself, and I have photos as evidence. I booked a no-smoking room but got a smoking room, the sink had cigarette burns, and the bathroom door handle came off in my hand. When I asked for another towel, they told me I had to bring the used one downstairs first. While I was trying to leave, another guest dropped a 9mm handgun on the elevator floor. I paid nearly $140 for this. I contacted Choice Hotels, and they said I should have received a non-smoking room. As a courtesy, they said they wouldn't charge me a no-show fee for failing to secure my reservation. I can't recommend this hotel any less.

It was an okay place to stay, but I wouldn't go back because of the smell. Smoking is allowed in some rooms, and the whole hotel smelled like an ash tray. We were supposedly in a non-smoking room and it still smelled. If it was really a non-smoking room, why were there ash trays in it?

The staff were super friendly and appreciative, and the rooms looked clean, though ours smelled like last night's meal, lol. After two nights, we noticed roaches of several different sizes in the kitchen, room, and bathroom, and the shower walls were covered in black mold. We were charged another $35 at check-in after paying online. They said it was taxes the website doesn't collect. You also have to leave your ID to use a luggage cart.
