The area felt safe and pleasant for an evening walk, with no litter or transient people around, and the beach was only a short drive away. Everything in town, from coffee to groceries and a cafe, was easy to reach on foot. The staff were kind, professional, and helpful, and after-hours check-in was quick. We had booked online, so it was a relief to find they were expecting us. Our upstairs room was clean enough, with comfortable beds, cable TV, a mini fridge, and a card table. The pet rooms were downstairs. The tub looked dirty, so I scrubbed it with soap, but nothing came off. It must be stained, since it looked like a kid had drawn on the sides with crayon. The shower liner was old, though the towels were soft. It wasn’t a bad stay, and I’ve seen much worse, but I’d give it no more than three stars, which isn’t a bad thing.

The biggest issue was the other guests. Some long-term residents seemed to think they could be loud whenever they wanted, and with the thin walls, floors, and ceilings, we heard everything. They were intoxicated and noisy all night and into the next morning, which wrecked what would otherwise have been a peaceful stay. Staff were attentive and apologetic when it happened, but the same people caused more trouble the second morning and staff had to reprimand them again. Our room itself was spacious and clean, though the linen and furniture looked dated. The pillows were hard and the bed quite firm, if not terribly uncomfortable. A few updates could make the place shine. There’s a grocery store across the road and a taco restaurant next door with pretty tasty food.

The owners were attentive, polite, and easy to deal with, and I’d stay here again. My room was roomy and clean, though it smelled like cigarette smoke, so I bought spray at the store across the street. Pulling out the carpet and taking down the popcorn ceiling would make a big difference, and the rooms could use some updating.

The room was spacious, but it was filthy. The bowl of the toilet was black and looked moldy, the shower had old soap, hair, and a ring around the tub, and the sink was disgusting. The coffee pot still had drips from the previous brew, and sugar and dried creamer were scattered over the tray. There were grease stains and gum on the carpet, the covers were badly worn with bleach marks, and the door looked as if it had been kicked in before. I cleaned the room myself. I took photos and showed them to the housekeeper and the manager, but they did nothing. The manager was busy then, but never came to speak with us, so we had to approach them again. When I asked for the owner's contact information, the manager got hostile and refused to give me anything. Nobody apologized or offered to accommodate us. Staff sat smoking and hanging out in the yard by the rooms more than working. I tried to post the photos, but the manager wouldn't even look at them when I showed them in the office.

We could walk from our room to restaurants and the supermarket, and there’s a lovely little bistro up the road to the left. It’s a relaxing corner of the world, inexpensive and convenient, with large, clean, no-frills rooms that welcome dogs. My labradoodle and I even spotted two baby deer on the front lawn. Loved staying here, and we’ll definitely be back. The staff are the best and go out of their way for you.
