The staff were helpful, and the low price may explain why the place was completely booked. I’d stayed here 15 years ago, but it’s changed. There was a disinfectant smell right when I walked in, and in my room it mixed with a worse odor, like dirty feet or wet carpet. Without the smell, I think I would’ve enjoyed the stay.

It smelled odd throughout, and the walls could use paint. The carpet had stains, the furniture was old and banged up, and the towels didn’t match and had holes. The hotel feels run down. I can’t figure out how it has 4.3 stars. If my wife had been with me, she’d have wanted us to leave.

There were no pillowcases on the pillows, which was gross, and the interior safety locks had been removed from the doors. The bigger problem was being locked out after 11. They leave a phone number on the door, but nobody answered when we called. We had to sleep in our car in the cold, and they still charged us. We thought “the lobby is closed at 11” meant no one would be at the desk to help or bring towels, not that they lock the doors. Who wants a curfew on vacation? They should say they lock the doors at 11.

There was no tea or coffee setup in the room, and after hours the only way in was through a back door amid the building work. The hotel is undergoing major renovations, but the rooms offered to us were in the part that hadn’t been updated yet. They looked tired and dated, nothing like the photos on Hotels.com. We asked to move and were refused another option. When we later requested a goodwill refund, that was flatly refused too.
