Our room was great and really comfortable, and the owners were attentive and accommodating. This bed and breakfast is in a great spot: an easy walk to the Freeport business district, but far enough away to have more of the town's rural, residential feel. Highly recommend.

The Kendall Inn was the best part of our first trip to Maine. It's just a few blocks from downtown Freeport and a short drive from Portland. Keith, Stephanie, and Matt were wonderful hosts. Keith welcomed us at check-in, showed us around, and walked us to our room. It was quiet, private, clean, and comfortable. Stephanie's cooking was amazing. Breakfast changed each day and included a creatively prepared fruit dish, a hearty hot main, and a fresh-baked sweet. I especially loved the strawberry crumb cake bar and Welsh tea cake. Matt served us each morning and was such a pleasure to talk with. There was plenty of freshly brewed coffee early each day, and the inn exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend it.

The room was tiny, the bed just okay, and the lighting was awful. The bedside lamps were maybe 12 inches tall. The bathroom was updated and clean, but painted the ugliest shade of pink I've ever seen. Outside, the entrance and landscaping looked overgrown and unsightly, nothing like the pictures. Other inns and hotels nearby had pumpkins and fall flowers. The man who showed us the room was okay, but not especially welcoming. I went downstairs around 7:30 p.m. to ask about the evening cookies I'd read about. A woman in the kitchen coldly said she was making them and left it at that. I got a text later saying they were ready. The next morning, the same crabby woman was cooking breakfast five feet from me and didn't acknowledge me, even when I said good morning. This wasn't one of our better bed and breakfast stays. We were there in early September, 2925.

My husband came down with COVID, so after seeing a doctor we had to cancel our Sept 30 to Oct 2 stay at Kendall. We didn't know he was sick until five days before the booking. I called Kendall to explain, and they told us to contact Booking. The woman at Kendall said she appreciated our call because they had a waiting list. We then requested a refund through Booking, but it was denied because the cancellation was inside the seven-day window. We cancelled our flights and other hotels too, and those places had no problem with it. It's really disappointing. We'll be going north later this year, but we won't stay here. If they had no one waiting, I could understand, but they said they did. So they'll have guests paying to stay those nights and also keep payment from us for not coming. That's ridiculous.

The owners were so kind and accommodating, and their availability and thoughtful gestures made the stay feel like being with family. Breakfast was amazing, and I loved the late-night cookies. It's just off the highway and only minutes from downtown. Such a lovely visit, and we'll definitely come back.
