Baymont by Wyndham Gaffney

I was really disappointed and want my money back. The room smelled bad, the fridge was unsteady and didn’t work, and the bathtub plug was broken. There were black marks all down the door, like it hadn’t been wiped in ages. I picked up the greasy phone to check whether it was plugged in. It wasn’t worth what I paid.

We even got a 5am wake-up call we hadn’t requested. The bathroom ceiling paint was falling down, the exhaust vent cover was barely attached, and there was no trim around the door, so smoke from people outside seemed to get pulled into the room. I booked a non-smoking room, but it reeked of cigarettes and weed, and I found a cigarette butt in the AC unit. It’s a cheap hotel, so I guess you get what you pay for.

We had plenty of room to unpack for three nights, and the WiFi was strong. The rooms were spacious, with lots of towels and toiletries, plus cups. There were four USB ports and two AC outlets at the nightstand, and another four USB ports and more outlets at the desk. The new mattresses were extremely comfortable. The only big downside was the all-polyester bedding, which left us sweaty even with the AC on. Each bed had three small half-pillows, too. Breakfast had Froot Loops or Cherios, Belgian waffles, bagged bread and bagels for toasting, blueberry muffins, apples, some yogurts, little sausage sandwiches in packets that you microwave for 30 seconds, and hard-boiled eggs. I’m not into those, but mayo and relish packets made them into egg salad, which I do like. The hotel shares a parking lot with an Ingles supermarket and Burger King, and Aldi’s and other food options are across the street. We went to Ingles on our first night to stock the mini-fridge. Staff were friendly and quick to sort out small problems, like the toilet not flushing on our first morning. I’d stay again.

The staff made me feel like family. If you’re around Gaffney Sc, this is a great place to stay, and I’d recommend it to friends and family.
