A train line runs right beside the building. The trains went all night, noticeable but not horribly loud, and there were no whistles or anything. The staff were very friendly, but the hotel itself was pretty unpleasant. Both the halls and rooms smelled awful, and the water was funky. It costs half as much as the competition, and sometimes you get what you pay for.

The bed was comfortable, but that was about the only good thing. The carpets were threadbare, the halls reeked of cigarette smoke, and the elevator creaked and groaned. The people were rude, and the residents seemed like they hadn’t seen an outsider in months. I tried to shower but found disgusting mold and detritus, so I avoided it. I booked because I desperately needed a place to stay, and the price and convenience won me over despite the reviews telling people to stay away. They were under foreclosure when I spent the night. Perhaps things have changed since then.

The place was disgusting from top to bottom. There was blood on our top sheet, the bathroom light didn’t work, and they had taken the battery out of the fire alarm and never replaced it. Some outlets barely worked, and the pool was closed, apparently for more than a month. The workers who lived there seemed clearly on drugs and were tweaking like crazy. They were washing towels, so it was hard to get fresh ones, since they only wash them on weekends.

The rooms aren’t top-notch and could use a renovation, but they’re clean and do the job at a reasonable, cheap price. I love the staff, and the location works perfectly for where I go when I’m in town. The service is great, especially Tracy. I gave it five out of five because they treat me very well.

There are cords hanging from the hallway ceilings, the place isn’t clean, and there are too many locals. The pool isn’t working, and the A/C can’t keep up. This building used to be a Howard Johnson’s and was super nice, the best in town. Now it’s the worst.
