Colonial Motel

We paid $70 for one night and hadn’t booked ahead. The front desk guy was helpful and friendly. He let us see the room first, then tracked down a refrigerator after we told him ours was missing. While we went to the nearby Walmart, he brought the extra towels we’d asked for and checked that everything worked before we returned. We had no noise from other rooms and wouldn’t mind staying again if we’re in the area. It was affordable, though the floor was filthy and needed sweeping and mopping. The vinyl floor had no carpet, while the bathroom and everything else seemed clean. The room had two beds, a small table, desk, TV with Direct TV and hundreds of channels, microwave, refrigerator, and cups, soup and shampoo packets, towels, and washcloths in the bathroom. There were only two somewhat small pillows per queen bed, so bring extras if you like more pillows. There was also a random table under the window, as if someone might stand on it to look into the room, though the window did have curtains.

The employees were nice and gave our money back, but there were some sketchy people staying there. The towels looked barely washed, there was no shower curtain, and the floor was really dirty, like it hadn’t been vacuumed. The bed seemed okay, though we didn’t look under the sheets. That’s about all I have to say.

For $45, it was a reasonable stay if you know what you’re getting. The room itself was nice and freshly painted, and it was kept up. The heat and AC worked well, with plenty of hot water. But the walls are thin, and a train crossing with a horn runs all night and can be heard. People were talking loudly in the courtyard until after 1 am. There were also stains on the pillowcases and bath mat.

Clean and quiet, and a good deal for a low-budget motel. No complaints from me, I’d stay again.
