Comfort Suites Gallup East Route 66 and I-40

The hotel was quiet and mostly clean, even though the full parking lot made it look pretty busy. The bed was comfortable, and I didn’t see dirt or any signs of insects. Still, the furniture and appliances could use an update. The bed base was torn and had foam showing when I lifted the comforter, which didn’t look good. The microwave was only 700 watts and felt really weak.

We’ll pick this place again when we’re back in Gallup. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and it felt like good value. Front desk staff greeted us promptly and were friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to see the whole lobby dedicated to veterans. There are several hotels grouped together nearby, but this one sits farthest east, so you get great views. Comfort Inns can be hit or miss, and this one is very good.

The beds were really firm, but I slept pretty well, and the service was great. I’d stay again. The toilet handle needs replacing: it stays down after you push it, so the tank won’t refill for the next flush. I had to lift the lid and fix it each time. There was also a long auburn hair on the sheets, maybe left by whoever made the beds. The dresser was scratched up and missing a corner of its fake wood.

Picking this place turned into a glorious experience, and I’m very glad I stayed here. The service felt premium, professional, and welcoming enough to make me feel a little like royalty, maybe because I’m a Combat Veteran. I highly recommend it. As an extra treat, the young fellow Travis kindly let me play their magnificent Electric Piano with foot pedals. A million thank-yous!
