Super 8 by Wyndham Galva

We had to redo everything after they lost our reservation. The first room's door wouldn't shut all the way or lock, so we changed rooms. Then I tried to shower and there was no hot water, not even what I'd call lukewarm. Just a terrible experience.

The rooms were really clean, the beds were comfortable, and the front desk staff were friendly. It's a nice place with the basics, and I'd stay here again.

The room was filthy in ways that made me question how it was being cleaned. The shampoo and conditioner bottles were already half used, apparently left on the soap tray for the next guest. There were dead earwigs in the bathroom and beside the nightstand, plus a spider inside the ice bucket with its lid on. The towels were stained and worn, barely bigger than the hand towel they gave me for a bath mat, and I needed two to dry off. The TV was small and positioned below the bed, so I had to sit up to watch it. Getting help was just as bad. The two people at the desk kept chatting while I waited, and they barely understood my question. Later I rang the bell for five minutes straight and called the house phone, which stayed busy for more than 15 minutes. No one showed up or answered. The vending machine was completely empty, and there was no guest laundry. They still charged a $150 deposit on top of the rate, though I couldn't see anything in the room worth that besides my own belongings. Breakfast was pathetic too. This was the most neglect I've personally seen from hotel staff. Super 8s have gone downhill, and they've lost my business. I'd rather pay more to stay with a reputable chain and feel comfortable.

The room itself was in good shape: clean, comfortable bed and pillows, and the listed microwave, coffee maker, and small refrigerator were all there. The heating and air conditioning worked well, the TV had plenty of channels and a good picture, and there was a luggage cart. The parking lot was clean and well lit when I arrived. I booked on the Wyndham app, so check-in was easy. The service side let the stay down. I travel over 100 days a year for work and stay only at Wyndham properties, but there was nobody at the front desk and no housekeeping during my stay. I know there were only two guests, but making the bed, emptying one small bin, and replacing a coffee pack would have been enough. There were no cups or condiments for the in-room coffee, the vending machine and ice maker didn't work, and breakfast wasn't available. A bit more attention to detail would have made this a great stay.
