The morning staff were super nice and helpful at breakfast, and the hot breakfast was good. They even warmed up coffee for us. I also appreciated how clean the pool was and swam every day. We had to keep asking for towels, though, including pool towels. The front desk clerk was really rude. I think her name was Ashley, but luckily we didn't see her again for the rest of our stay. The room wasn't anything special and needs plenty of upgrades, but we enjoyed having a balcony overlooking the fun pier. Renovations seem hit and miss: new lighting alongside old paint and fixtures makes the things still waiting for work stand out. Maybe some of the issues were because we visited during the January off-season. I'd try again in summer if the staff are nice and the toilet and sheets are clean. If those things are right, I can overlook the rest.

The location is awesome, and I love sitting on the balcony to watch people. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Angela at the front desk is so helpful and great. I bring my mom and her friend, who has cancer, to UTMB, and Angela always remembers us and does everything she can to make the stay comfortable.

Valerie really helped make the stay easy. She came to our room and reprogrammed the TV remote, and she was welcoming, friendly, and so helpful. The hotel is clean, though it’s starting to look a little worn. We’ve kept coming back for years because we can walk to the beach, restaurants, and Pleasure Pier. This time the balcony door was warped and hard to open, the room phone was missing, the remote had issues, and the free Wi-Fi disconnected for almost a full day. Mostly small problems, and they didn’t get in the way of our stay.

I’d read some pretty unkind reviews before checking in, but I found this to be a very nice place. The manager who helped me at the front desk was so sweet. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. The pool was heated and the water felt warm. I’ll definitely stay here when I come to Galveston.

I wasn't a guest, but I stopped in because my period had started and I was bleeding through. I had a pad in my hand and asked the front desk if I could use the bathroom just this once. The attendant, a woman with long grayish or blond hair, cut me off before I could finish and told me to use the tourist porta potties outside. I understand there are rules, but exceptions can be made. I just needed somewhere safe and comfortable to clean up. Those porta potties have no running water or toilet paper. The way she spoke to me was extremely rude and showed no manners. She needs more training in how to treat people with hospitality.
