Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Galveston West/Seawall

The pool area was very nice, and the continental breakfast was popular. Our balcony was pleasant, though the view wasn't much, which was fine for the price. Parking was a little tight, and the hotel has had some updates. The room was clean, everything worked, and the bed was comfortable, but this is a no-frills stay. The AC cooled the room, though the door needed quite a bit of weatherstripping. I never found the ice machine, and there was only one snack machine and one cold drink machine that I saw. Front desk staffing seemed limited, though I checked in late and left very early. Good value overall.

For work, this location suits me well. It's away from the tourist bustle, with places to go on foot besides the beach. The setting is relaxed, it's clean, and the pool looks great from my balcony. Rooms vary, and there's another hotel in front, though I think each balcony has at least some water view. I'm fine with that. Prices are good during the week and even better in the cooler months. Breakfast is perfectly fine, with the hot food served hot and fresh, which beats places that offer more. Housekeeping will help with whatever you need if you let them know. Everyone greets me warmly when I stay, and I'll keep coming back when I'm in Galveston.

This hotel deserves zero stars, as does Wyndham, its parent company. Travel sites were still taking reservations even though the hotel had been closed since the previous fall after a fire. I only found that out later. The hotel accepted my online reservation in April 2025 despite being closed. Calls to the hotel a few days before my stay went unanswered, so I contacted Wyndham. Their customer service representative didn't know the hotel was closed and gave me what they called the manager's cell number. It actually belonged to a manager at a different hotel in Galveston. When I called Wyndham again, they said to contact corporate. No one at Wyndham Corporate answered any of the menu options. This was unbelievably bad management and customer service. There was no closure notice on the hotel's website, and travel sites continued to offer reservations. This had apparently been going on for months.

The front desk staff were wonderful, and it could work if you need an affordable place. The rooms are okay and generally clean, though a bit rough in spots with visible repairs. The beds are as hard as nails.
