Galveston Beach Hotel

The facilities were fine and the food was acceptable, but the front desk experience was very frustrating. I asked about checking in early and was told the earliest was 3:00 PM. When I came back around 3:10, I was told the room wasn't ready and I'd need to wait another 20 minutes or until 4:00. As I walked out, I saw the two staff members at the desk, who appeared to be Hispanic, laughing loudly. I waited in my car, then noticed other guests going in and checking in. When I went back to ask about my room, the staff member looked visibly upset to see me. She checked availability and assigned me the last room on the first floor, which felt punitive. We left around 11:20 Sunday morning. Later, I got a call asking whether I was planning to check out that day. No one was at the desk to process checkout, and we'd already returned the key card in the designated box. They should have checked the box before calling. Customer service could have been much better.

The beach access and beautiful ocean view really topped off our trip, and the staff were great. It's a very nice hotel right on the beach. It looked like renovations might be underway, so it wasn't the most fabulous place, but it was perfectly fine, especially for the price.

The room was very clean, which mattered a lot to me, especially after reading some reviews that made me expect otherwise. We stayed one night to enjoy Galveston, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it already very cold when we arrived; in Texas hotel rooms, the A/C is usually off. The real standout came after we got home to San Antonio. At 11pm the next day, my daughter noticed her iPad was missing while unpacking. She'd left it somewhere in the sheets. I called right away and was told the housekeeping manager wasn't in and to call in the morning. I didn't need to: early the next morning the housekeeping manager called to say they had the iPad, and that manager Sophie would send it via UPS. A couple days later, Sophie sent the receipt and tracking details. Every employee, from housekeeping to management, went above and beyond. Thank you, Galveston Beach Hotel, for a great stay and amazing customer service. We plan to visit again very soon. 💙 🏖️

Breakfast was okay, with some hot food like waffles and eggs, plus coffee and fruit juice. The vending machine had run out of laundry detergent, so I had to go to the nearby Walmart for some. The front desk helped change $5 into quarters, which let me do laundry in the guest laundry room. For $64 for two non-smoking queen beds in Jan 2026, I'd rate it 10 out of 10. There was some rust under the bathtub spout, but everything else was really great 👍👍.
