Hampton Inn & Suites Galveston

The breakfast room was roomy, unlike the cramped spaces you find at many hotels in this price range, and the hot breakfast is one reason I like Hampton Inns. It’s not love, as the saying goes, but it’s not bad either. Our beds were comfortable, though not luxurious, and the room and breakfast area were both comfortable and well kept. There were lots of USB charging spots in each, and everything in the room worked. We were there for one night on Tuesday before Thanksgiving (2025), and I was pleasantly surprised by how recently updated the hotel seemed. For a beach area, it didn’t have that typical beach hotel smell. Maybe we got lucky, but the woman at check-in was professional, pleasant, mature, and helpful. I booked using my Hilton ID and got recognition for it, plus two bottles of water and free parking. The hotel is across from Walmart and an easy walk from the seawall. It’s also close to Moody Gardens, which worked well since we spent the day there. We checked in to rest for a bit, then went back to ICELand before dinner. Security seemed good, with key-card access to the parking area elevator. There was an ice machine on our floor, which was nice since some hotels say they have them when they don’t. Check-in and checkout were easy and pleasant. Sometimes no one was at the front desk when we passed through, but it wasn’t a problem for us. The price was very fair, and we enjoyed our short stay. We’re on the island once or twice a year, and I’ll add this hotel to my list.

I liked that the TV welcomed me by name when I walked into the room. The hotel worked well for what we needed, and we had a good experience. We only stayed one night before our cruise, so we didn’t get to use the beach, though it’s right across the street. Maybe I’m behind on the tech, but using your phone as the room key was pretty cool. Parking is covered, but costs $10 a night.

The free hot breakfast makes this a good value, and the rooms are comfortable and nice. Staff were friendly, too. It’s easy to reach the beach and get to and from Seawall Drive. Parking costs $10 a day, and Walmart is close enough to walk to if you need snacks or other basics.

The rate is good and there’s plenty of parking, though it costs $10. But the hallways smelled bad, and the room had a strange odor too. The windows don’t open, so the air feels damp, and there’s no bathroom fan. The bed was “jumpy.” To top it off, a cockroach was wandering around the lobby.
