The breakfast staff were out of this world. They made us feel welcome and treated us like special guests. The little hot breakfast was great, and the team deserves a raise. The hotel was clean throughout, from the public areas and pool to the guest rooms. Housemen were always mopping and cleaning the lobby and hallways. It’s an affordable, very nice place directly across from Galveston Beach, with lots of nearby restaurants and businesses within walking distance. Strand Street is worth a walk for a nice downtown view. Our room had a comfortable bed with both firm and soft pillows, great AC, and bathrooms stocked with Dove products. They let us check in early and held our luggage while we walked downtown until check-in time. The staff are superb in every way, so I’d pick this over the high-end places nearby. 10/10, and yes, this is a real review. 😁 If you’re doubtful, check out my other Google reviews.
I’ve tried several times to reach hotel management by email, and at the desk I was told the manager wasn’t available and to leave my name and number. On my second attempt, the front desk said they’d email me the manager’s address, but they sent the billing department’s email instead. I haven’t heard back from them either. I’ve asked for a refund of the daily parking fee and nobody will listen. My next step is filing a complaint with the ADA. The hotel itself was decent, but the parking garage elevator didn’t work for our entire visit, and they charged us each day to park even though we couldn’t use it. I’m a disabled veteran, and there weren’t enough accessible spots for a garage that size. We had to park several floors up. That could have worked if the elevator had been running. The front desk suggested street parking, but the vehicle would have to be moved by 5 p.m. because of the city’s parking rules, so that wasn’t an option. I asked about valet and was told it wasn’t available. I stayed at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Galveston Beach by IHG, and it was the worst experience. I was told by IHG that the hotel owner also owns The Spot next door and apparently gets enough revenue from it not to care about hotel guests. Do not stay here. There are plenty of better options.
Our room was spacious, and the ocean view from the balcony was the absolute best. We stayed the night before our cruise and used the $15-a-day parking for the week. The staff were so nice, and breakfast had a good variety. We were right next to The Spot and ordered food from there. It was fresh and yummy! I only remembered to take a few pictures, mostly to capture my nerdy kids getting ready for a week with no wifi.
My daughter loved the pool, which was the highlight for her. We spent one night at the Holiday Inn Express in Galveston, TX, in a king room with a balcony. The room was comfortable and well equipped, with shampoo and conditioner, a microwave and a mini fridge. Breakfast in the morning had a pretty good variety. The doors slam loudly, and it got noisy at times. Getting into the building was somewhat difficult, and the exits were inconsistent and a bit confusing. I had a discounted rate, and at that price it was worth it. I probably wouldn’t pay full price to stay again.
The rooms are clean and the amenities are great, as they usually are at these hotels. The pillows were the only letdown. They’re so flat and unsupportive that I could feel my hand underneath mine, like sleeping on a sheet. It made for a rough night. If you need firm pillows or any real support, bring your own. The sheets were starchy, too.
