Holiday Inn Galveston Island, an IHG Hotel

For our one-night stop before a cruise, this place was just what we needed. The facilities were clean and comfortable, the staff were wonderful during our short stay, and the drive to the port the next morning was easy and smooth. My only drawback was that breakfast wasn’t included. There’s an IHOP on the island, though, and a fridge in the room.

The location worked perfectly for our one-night work conference stay, and the staff were friendly. But the lobby and first floor had an overwhelming mold and mildew smell as soon as we entered. The second floor was barely better, and the odor was irritating all night. My foot brushed the carpet while I was putting on sandals, and it felt slightly cold and damp. There’s clearly a moisture or humidity problem. The room wasn’t very clean either. There were hairs left in the shower, and the previous guest’s leftovers were still in the mini fridge.

Carl at the front desk was nice, but everything else was subpar compared with my usual Holiday Inn experiences. The room was dirty, with hair all over the bathroom floor, and there was no toilet paper or tissue. I wouldn’t recommend this location.

The hotel worked perfectly for our stay, but Sandra’s kindness is what I remember most. She was so helpful and kind while sorting out a charge issue, and she handled it efficiently. I felt sure she genuinely cared about getting it resolved.
