Inn at The Waterpark

The pool was clean, the putt putt course was nice, and the beds were really comfortable. The room itself wasn't bad, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. There was hair on the shower walls and dirt in the tub, and the door's weather stripping was loose and flapping around.

We never spent the night and will never return. Someone had a key to our room and was banging on the door, trying to get in while I was in a towel after a shower. Thankfully I'd latched it. We have a small child, and I was barely dressed. They could have taken our things or worse. No one has explained why that person had a key to our room. The manager on duty that night mostly blamed us and said we should tell the other person to come down for another key. That wasn't my job, and he should never have had access to our room. The hotel wasn't willing to help us sort it out. We packed up and left. The front office said they'd refund us in 5-7 business days. On day 8, I called, and a desk employee said she'd seen the notes and would leave one for MIA, the office manager, to start the refund through Expedia. Three days later, Mrs. MIA said she hadn't received a note and told me to contact Expedia myself. Starting the refund was her responsibility, and it felt like she was refusing to do it. Expedia then tried to make me pay another $170 to get my money back. At this point I don't know whether the hotel or Expedia is keeping it, but this should never have happened. Absolutely awful customer service.

At $120 a night, this place wasn't worth what we paid. The beds were very hard, the floors were filthy, and the coffee and morning breakfast were the cheapest I've ever seen. There weren't even the usual two nightstands or convenient plugs for charging a phone. We asked for a couple of things for the second night, but they weren't done when the room was cleaned. Our first room had a refrigerator that wouldn't close. When I moved it, I found roaches. I'm a pest control professional, so I checked other things. We called the staff and they moved us, but in the second room there were roaches behind the refrigerator, on a monitor. The front desk person said the new owners had been cutting corners on breakfast and there was only one maintenance person, and that things weren't like they used to be. To me, this was like an hourly rate hotel. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Buyer beware.

The laundry room for guests was completely out of order, not just one machine. We also found that the rooms didn't look renovated within the last 10 years, despite The Inn at the Waterpark saying they were newly renovated. From the moment we walked in, it smelled of mildew and everything felt damp. I'd read reviews before booking and thought I'd done my homework. We wouldn't have chosen this place if we'd known the laundry wasn't available.
