For a quick one-night mini vacation, it worked well: the room was clean when we arrived, very cold, and the beds were among the most comfortable I've had in a hotel. The mini fridge kept our food and drinks cold, and there was a microwave too. The shower had great pressure and enough hot water for six people to take 30-minute showers. The outside looks rough, but inside was decent for the price. The location is almost perfect, with the beach right across the street and Pleasure Peer about a five-minute walk away. Other things you'd want are within walking distance too. Breakfast was nothing special, though that's about what I'd expect for the price and not a five-star hotel. I had two complaints: the blankets didn't seem to have been changed at checkout, and staff knocked at 10:15 to start cleaning even though checkout was at 11. Please wait until guests have left, there's still time to clean afterward.

Patricia was the one bright spot: she checked us in kindly and was helpful. The room, though, was filthy and full of bugs. We paid $103.40 for a nasty place with a clogged, filthy sink that made me buy drain cleaner, an AC unit leaking across the carpet, and mold and dust everywhere. The carpet was wet and gross. We spent most of the night out of the room and checked out at 5 am. The man at checkout was rude and reluctant to return our $50 cash deposit for the keys and parking pass. It looked like a motel that rents by the hour, nothing like the booking site photos, which felt misleading. I even suspect some of the nice reviews may be fake. Don't waste your money.

For $207 on Fourth of July weekend, this was a poor deal. I expected something closer to an $80-a-night hotel, not $200, and even my low expectations weren't met. The location is excellent, and we could see the ocean from our room. Everything else felt bizarre or dirty. The woman at check-in was nice but seemed unsure, as if she might be new. She had me fill out information already on my online reservation, then asked for a $50 cash deposit in a way that sounded almost optional. When I asked if she could put it on my card instead, she dropped it. With no paper trail for cash, my wife and I felt like we might be getting scammed. The room was not terrible for what it was, but the details were neglected. The parking lot needed cleaning and repairs. Inside, the floors were dirty, the tub was rusted, things were crooked from poor workmanship, the mirror was dirty, and the sheets were stained. They smelled clean, but looked like they hadn't been replaced for some time. The pillows were worst of all, covered in drool stains. The service was friendly but left us uneasy about the deposit. We only needed a place to sleep before our cruise, but I still feel ripped off. I'd consider staying again only for closer to $100 a night.

A clean bed and basic amenities were all we needed, and the staff were friendly and great. We could park right outside our room. The building is old and could use a few cosmetic fixes, but the curtains blocked the parking lot lights, and being just off the seawall meant outside noise wasn't a bother.

The staff made us feel welcome and wanted when we came for my husband's birthday. They were all so friendly and helpful, and we can't wait to return next year. I loved getting morning coffee from the little breakfast and coffee setup. The breakfast room was cozy and just the right size for us.
