We paid $100 a night after tax for a bed and shower, and that’s about all we got. The hot water worked, and we got exactly two clean towels. The bed was the worst I’ve slept on as an adult. We asked for sheets without huge yellow stains and remade the beds ourselves. The room was generally dirty. The TV screen was smashed, outlets were pulling out of the walls and exposed, and the air conditioner leaked enough to soak everything we had on the floor within 4 ft. The door hardware had been fixed many times, but the door needed replacing long ago. Staff knew about the TV, sheets, dirty floors, and shower, but said they couldn’t get to them. I didn’t feel the issues were quite enough to make me walk away from my $100 and book somewhere else on the spot, but I definitely overpaid.

The price was good, but the place didn’t seem ready for guests. The manager was away, so the front desk couldn’t give me a key and an employee had to open my room door. I’d requested a room for two, with one person quite disabled, but there were no grab bars in the bathroom. The tub was very slippery, with no mat or anti-slip strips, and the shower seemed dangerous for anyone. The TV didn’t work. When I went to ask about it, the office said, “Oh that room doesn’t come with a working tv.” The lock was hard to operate too, and the Coke machine took my money. The office told me to call the vending company in Houston.

The owner said she knew the TV was cracked in half and that they were “under construction.” I don’t see what that has to do with the TVs. When I asked about it, she cut in before I could finish and said there was no cable. The shower wouldn’t drain, the phone was dead, and the door scraped the floor, making it hard to close. I had to keep an eye on my belongings outside because some customers looked pretty sketchy. This was by far the worst place I’ve stayed in a long time. I could’ve camped on the beach more comfortably. I’m staying in an actual hotel tonight for half the price. This place needs to be demolished.

The bathroom was nice, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The room had been recently remodeled, though the work still wasn’t fully finished. The TVs don’t work, and there’s no hair dryer or coffee maker. After our cruise, we paid close to the same price to stay at the airport Hilton in Houston. If we use this port again, we’ll stay there.

The front desk man wrote the Wi-Fi password on our key envelope, then told us maintenance would bring a TV remote. We found no remote, coffee pot, microwave, or fridge in the room. I tried calling the desk with no answer, so I went down. He said the maintenance person had to run to Randall's for batteries and that the remote would be at the desk when we got back from dinner. When we returned, a woman was at the desk. She laughed when I asked for the remote and said the motel had been under renovation for two years and had no TV or internet. Why give me a Wi-Fi code and make up a story about the remote? I told the night clerk we were leaving and wanted a refund. She said it was no problem and they had to do that all the time. This happened on 9/26/25, and I still haven’t received my $120. My bank is involved now. If I could give zero stars, I would. These people lied to my face. Do not stay here. Save yourself the hassle and try the Super 8 next door.
