We were enjoying ourselves so much that my boyfriend and I added a night to our original three-night booking, staying Sunday through Thursday. The Pearl Inn has been painted sky blue since then and looks very nice. Our room was huge and comfortable, and I slept better on the cozy mattress and oversized pillows than I do at home. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were always plenty of towels and hotel toiletries. We paid just $55 a night all in, so we’ll definitely come back, especially at that price. It’s not a fancy hotel, but we were really comfortable and would happily stay again. The closet, full-length mirror, mini fridge, and microwave more than made up for a few small annoyances. Parking could be a hassle when there were no spaces and we had to use the area by the fence at the back. That only happened the first night, when it was raining as we unloaded the car. There was also a hole in one wall, a broken patio chair, and a very quiet TV. The toilet was oddly loud when flushed. As long as we aren’t charged for those damages, we’re golden. It rained most of our stay, but here’s a picture from our room balcony.

The comfortable mattress and spot on the Seawall were the only real positives for me. The pillows were paper thin, so bring your own. The rooms felt very dated, with glossy bright colors: ours had a blue ceiling, three yellow walls, one gold wall, and a bright pink bathroom. There were tile floors and no carpet, and parking was inadequate. The website said there was a restaurant on site, and there was one, but it looked as if it had been out of business for quite a while. Cable or satellite TV was available, but no premium channels or movies. It worked for a last-minute overnight stay like ours, but I’d avoid it for a weeklong getaway.

My family and I had a great stay. It was cheap, clean, nice, and accommodating, right across from the beach. The negative reviews about Pearl Inn don’t match what we found. There was no Coke machine and no trash can in the bathroom, but aside from those things, we’d definitely stay again. It’s not dirty or gross at all.

I paid $100 for one night and spent it watching hookers and drug dealers across the street at Jack In the Box. I’m never staying at this hot sheet hotel again. The only decent thing was the beach right across the street, but it was rainy and overcast, so we didn’t even go there. For me this room is worth at most $35 a night. My wife and I will never come back. Don’t waste your money. The parking was cracked and pitted enough that I nearly blew my tires, and there was no security. I found cockroaches in the bathroom and microwave, the shower handle fell off when I tried to shower, and the place looked nothing like its pictures. There was no TV remote; I had to ask for one, and it took them 20 minutes to find batteries. The front desk woman was extremely unfriendly. There were black hairs all over the bathroom floor and on the towels, the WiFi password didn’t work, and although pets aren’t allowed, I heard several dogs yapping most of the night.

Being right across from the beach and having a cozy courtyard that only guests can access were big pluses for us. It was quiet at night, the pool was amazing, and the AC was ice cold with excellent shower pressure. The room was clean, though on the small side and older. Parking is limited, and our door was finicky and didn’t always close properly. Staff ranged from rude to just doing the job to pretty decent, and they were stingy with towels. Still, for the price, we’ll stay again.
