I booked a double room as book now, pay later so I could pay at the property and avoid having to request a refund if our trip was canceled. My card was charged at 2pm, an hour before check-in began. I figured I'd just use the card I'd planned to use for other purchases. When we arrived, we got a key card. Some young people were hanging around the office, and we could only hope they weren't staying near our room. At the room, I crushed the top of my drink cup while opening the door. The smell inside was overwhelming, and I was dealing with the spill when my daughter pointed out there was just one bed. We went back to the office, but no other rooms were available. The front desk clerk Sharon apologized, took the key card, and gave us a card with a number to call at 7am the next morning. Luckily, we found a much better room for the same price. I called around 8 am, but they didn't open until 11. We were glad to reach them before our cruise ship sailed that day. I eventually got a refund and found a hotel we'll return to. The office smelled clean, so I could tell the room would smell clean too.

The place wasn't as advertised. No fridge or microwave, and we had to ask for a coffee pot. When they brought one, it was covered in grease. In two nights, nobody took the trash or brought fresh towels. The toilet needed plunging after every use, and there wasn't parking near the room, so we had to park all the way around the building. I get that weekends cost more, but $100 extra a night? I'd sooner pitch a tent on the beach than stay here again.

I booked this for my family based on the Expedia reviews and photos, but it was not what I expected. We needed two rooms, and one wasn't ready when we arrived. They said 30 minutes, but after more than an hour it still wasn't available. The room that was ready had ceiling cracks, chipped paint, and a gap and hole in the front door. A plastic bag was over the smoke detector. I was worried about my family's safety, so I had them leave and stay at a La Quinta, which was much cleaner and better.

The rooms are consistently very clean, and on this trip maintenance came right away to replace our mini fridge when it wasn't cooling and was leaking badly. Gerald at the front desk was so helpful to us and to other guests in the lobby. Thanks to the great staff at this Motel 6 for making our stays good year after year. We've come every year for about 5 years. I do have one complaint, the first I've had about this location. This time almost all the front parking spots were taken by obvious cruise ship travelers. I understand people going on cruises stay here, but they should be directed to park in back or somewhere else. We've always been put in a room at the front of the hotel.

The only reason I gave it one star was that the toilet flushed, the door locked, and the roof didn't leak. The room smelled musty and humid, the shower was dirty with hair left on the wall from previous guests, and the old bed was uncomfortable with a badly rusting frame. Though every room is supposed to be non-smoking, there were cigarette burns on the floor and bedding. It's a very old, outdated motel, and it seems to have weekly tenants who were yelling and arguing at 3am. Stay only as a last resort.
