Super 8 by Wyndham Galveston

We won't return. There are lots of hotels in Galveston, and this one isn't the place for us. The room had roaches coming out of the coffee pot, ice box, and behind the headboard. I was mortified and disgusted. The apple juice in the lobby dispenser was basically water with an apple tint, and although the orange juice had an out-of-order sign, the apple juice didn't. The manager had trouble finding our reservation even though Expedia had taken payment from our bank. She kept saying we hadn't paid and had no booking. After we called Expedia and showed proof, she suddenly found it. Then the key cards weren't activated, so we had to walk back downstairs to get them fixed, after already spending an hour in the lobby trying to get to our rooms. There were some good things. The room was clean when we got in, with clean sheets and blankets, and the housekeeper did a very good job. It had two queen beds and decent space. Parking was easy because the lot was empty. The water pressure was good and stayed hot a long time, and the large AC unit also provided heat. The seawall was about a three-minute walk, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Still, the roaches and the manager's very poor attitude overshadowed everything.

Taylor went above and beyond to welcome us when we arrived without a reservation. We'd just had a bad experience with the booking company and the nasty motel they tried to put us in, so this anniversary stay was a wonderful change. Everything was great, and the next morning Erica was very nice too. The office was super clean and the place had great vibes. The beach was close enough to walk to, and there's also a swimming pool. We'll be back and I'm sure we'll stay here again. A wonderful experience we'll never forget. Thumbs up for these ladies.

We got a good night's sleep, and the rooms were clean with nice hot water for a shower. Being close to the port was really convenient. If you're expecting a continental breakfast, they don't really offer one.

I booked the wrong dates by accident, two days out, and they wouldn't give me a free cancellation. The manager said, “yeah well if we gave back everyone’s money who requested free cancellation then we’d make no money.” I hadn't even stayed there, but I'm now short 70 dollars because they kept the money. They make money from people who actually stay too, so that felt selfish. I'd rather stay somewhere run by managers with morals.
