The 1890 Freeman House

Shannon was a fabulous host, and we had such a good time chatting with the other guests. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the house itself is beautiful, full of period charm, and has spacious rooms with a very comfortable bed. It was also a perfect spot for our cruise departure, just minutes from the port. We loved staying at the 1890 Freeman House and will be back.

The Stuttgart room and its balcony overlooking Postoffice St. were lovely. Some rooms have balconies with views across the neighborhood’s beautiful houses, and there are six well-kept rooms in this gorgeous home. It’s one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed. There’s a full kitchen and a living room with plenty of room to talk, while the rooms are comfortable if you’d rather relax there. The owners were kind and helpful, check-in was easy, and they were available if we needed them. The location makes it easy to get around the island and reach the beach, while still being away from the busy noise. It’s a quiet place to unwind, close to what Galveston has to offer, and in my opinion a better deal than nearby hotels, with competitive prices.

We had a really nice stay in this beautiful house. The rooms were comfy, and the residential neighborhood of Victorian homes was quiet. The Strand is an easy walk, with nice restaurants and shops only a few blocks away. I wish I’d found this place years ago.

We stayed in Venice, a large room with a comfy king bed, luxurious-feeling linens and pillows, and a deep clawfoot tub. There’s also a walkout porch with rockers, and we couldn’t hear the other guests from our room. The kitchen is big and fully equipped, and we liked relaxing in the living room with its coffee station and big TV. Restaurants and bars are an easy walk, though the neighborhood is very quiet, and street parking is free. The house is an old place with some quirks and loads of charm. We’re already talking about renting the whole thing for a family getaway. Reservations and checking ourselves in went smoothly, and the house feels warm and inviting. Highly recommend.
