The bed and pillows were so comfortable I didn't want to get up. My birthday staycation at The Tremont House was great from valet arrival right through checkout. Front desk staff, bartenders, housekeepers, and room service were all excellent. I felt like a valued guest the whole time. Not every Marriott property is equal, and this is one of the best I've visited.
Our park & sail stay before the cruise went smoothly, from check-in through the lovely rooms. Breakfast at Blum & Co was delicious, and my latte was easily the best I've had. The restaurant was busy when a staff member fell and hurt her leg, I believe, but someone I took to be the manager went to help her while the rest of the team kept food and drinks coming. They worked incredibly hard, even with what may have been some disgruntled guests. We definitely recommend staying at Tremont House when visiting Galveston.
I want to stay at the Tremont again on any quick galvy trip. I prefer the strand for its history and easy walks to good restaurants and things to do, and this hotel is the most beautiful and luxurious decor I've seen among the popular Galveston resorts. When I contacted events team with a last minute plan to help my brother propose to his now fiancée, Korry and his team coordinated with my family and made it all feel seamless. They cared enough to make the occasion special, and I can imagine how spectacular the bigger events and weddings are. The suite was spectacular too. I missed the Rooftop at the Tremont event because of the weather, but my family couldn't stop talking about the service and ambiance. Thank you, Korry and everyone at the Tremont.
It's not an inexpensive stay, but we thought the property was well worth the big city prices. We loved our junior suite's art deco look, street view, two-story ceilings, wood floors, and oversized windows. The beautiful artwork throughout the hotel feels historical. The service was terrific, from the valet and bellmen to the desk staff, all happy to say “my pleasure.” We missed the sunset from the roof but enjoyed a cocktail before dinner, along with a shared baked goat cheese small plate that was delicious. Breakfast came with our room charge and didn't disappoint.
This historic hotel keeps its character in all the details, and the on-site restaurant serves fantastic, generous portions for much less than nearby places. There are plenty of restaurants just around the corner too, though parking is scarce, so valet may save some stress. It's easy to find, just off the main drag, and makes sense for cruise guests: they shuttle to the ports hourly and offer park and sail, so you can pay to leave your car on site instead of using public parking. We had a street-facing deluxe king guest room with high ceilings, lots of space, a mini fridge, pod coffee machine, large closet, walk-in shower, and separate sink area. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. The damp feeling from humidity bothered me, and the water pressure was almost nonexistent, with only lukewarm water. The lobby's incense smelled nice but irritated my throat, though medicine helped. Street-facing rooms are noisy, but the AC did a good job masking hallway, bathroom, and traffic sounds. If you want to splurge on a Galveston visit or cruise, I recommend trying it at least once.
