Wingate by Wyndham Galveston Beachfront at the Seawall

What first drew us here was the beachfront location and easy beach access, but the property's condition didn't look like the photos online. The room smelled strongly of mildew as soon as we walked in. There were holes and damaged spots in the walls, plus patched paint that made it seem dirty and poorly cared for. The restroom hadn't been cleaned properly, there were hardly any towels, and basic things like a floor mat were missing. The pool was one of the biggest disappointments. The water looked greenish-yellow and didn't seem clean or safe for families with children. We booked specifically for a beach and pool stay with our kids, so that was very upsetting. The TV was also outdated, with very few channels and little for children to watch. I know this isn't a luxury resort, but cleanliness and maintenance should still matter for every guest. The place felt neglected and fell far short of the expectations set by its online photos and description. The location has a lot of potential, but the property needs serious improvement.

The staff were friendly, and the room was clean enough. I even woke up to birdsong, which was nice. Still, this mid-priced hotel looks better in pictures than it is in person and needs more care and maintenance. The rooms aren't soundproof at all. The sink drained slowly and had whiskers in it, though I'm not scandalized by that. I just want fellow travelers to know what to expect. Choosing a hotel is hard, and this place is a good example of why.

Waking up to the sunrise from my Lakeview room was so peaceful. The check-in, room, and atmosphere all made for a great stay, and the staff looked after me and made me feel welcome and special. I enjoyed every minute and will definitely be back on my next business trip. Thanks, Wingate and staff!

I loved the ocean view and waking up to the sight and sound of the water each morning. The rooms were spotless, fresh, and well maintained throughout my visit. Staff were friendly and professional, always ready to help with a smile. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
