Baymont by Wyndham Savannah/Garden City

I really liked the location just outside downtown Savannah. The breakfast was delicious, with hot waffles, eggs and sausage, plus coffee, tea, apple and orange juice, cereal, toast, instant oatmeal packets, muffins, and fruit. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. There were enough outlets for all our devices. Some furniture looked worn, and the bathroom wasn’t fancy, but it worked. Also, there’s no pool, despite Google, and no gym, despite booking.com.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and we had a roomy room with clean, comfortable beds. It’s a quiet spot less than a 10-minute drive from downtown Savannah. The building and rooms could use updates and renovations, but the free breakfast was a nice extra, so I have no real complaints. I’d book here again if I’m in the area.

The room layouts were nice, and the pillows and bed were pretty soft. There’s free wifi, a decent breakfast with mini waffles, and a patio area with a grill. The pool shown in the pictures and listing doesn’t exist, it’s been filled in. It’ll do if you need a cheap place to stay, but don’t expect much.

There’s enough parking, the hot water works, and it’s about 10 minutes from downtown. The bed was okay, with an outlet by the bedside cabinet, and the shampoo smelled nice. The desk was fine too. Internet speed tested at 85 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. A towel had blood stains on it. I took it to the front desk, and the woman apologized and gave me a clean one. There’s no pool despite the online pictures, and the staff weren’t great. No drinking water was available at breakfast, so you have to bring it from your room. The location didn’t feel great. In the evening you have to swipe into the building lobby, not just your room, because it’s a bad area. I saw a guy getting high in his car in the parking lot. The shower sprayed all over the bathroom, hitting the mirror, ceiling, and floor when I first turned it on. The bathroom sink had very low flow, the faucet leaked, and the stopper was broken. The exhaust fan ran but didn’t clear steam or air. There was something in the mini-fridge left by the previous visitor, and it was set to the lowest setting. Temperature control was an issue because the thermostat uses a motion detector and shuts off the heat or AC under the window if it doesn’t detect you in the room. The breakfast area is really part of the lobby, and its tables can only be used during breakfast. They offer a shuttle to and from downtown, but the last return trip is at 3:30 pm, which doesn’t help if you want to spend an evening there. The setup gave me the feeling they try to save every penny.
