Cowboy's Lodge

We noticed the outside decor first, and the inside kept up the wild west look. The restaurant was notably clean. We came for a late lunch, and Michael was cheerful and helpful while serving us. The coffee was good and strong, and the chili was excellent. We liked the rodeo fries too. We shared the hunters pie, which had tons of pulled pork.

We waited two hours, watching three other tables come in, sit down, and leave. There were already two tables with food when we arrived, and another party of two and our party of two came in at the same time. It took 40 minutes just to get drinks. This was breakfast, and we’d ordered mimosas. The "real orange juice" was kept in a milk jug on the counter, handy for pouring, I guess. The food finally came. The chicken fried steak had an amazing amount of batter. They couldn’t make eggs to order, apparently, because scrambled was the only option. I asked for fried eggs and was told no. I got a skillet with scrambled eggs, and it was fine, though my stomach disagreed. The $74 bill covered four mimosas with an unknown light beer, chicken fried steak with a lot of batter and deep fried potato cubes, no eggs and little meat, plus a biscuit and a scramble. It was a slow time of year, so maybe the staffing was normal? One other thing I found interesting: all the heat came from space heaters.

My wife and I are on vacation for our 25th anniversary, and dinner here was fantastic. Mike, our server, was friendly, professional, and about as accommodating as you could ask for. The food was great, and the cowboy decor was cool too. Five stars all around. Make this a must visit if you’re in the area.

My studio had a small kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, and a refrigerator, plus its own parking space, which was handy. The western decor suited the lodge, and the keyless room entry was a nice touch. The mattress wasn’t very comfortable because I could feel the springs, though I did manage to sleep. The heating unit worked well but was fairly noisy. Overall, it was a good stay.
