Hampton Inn Gardner Conference Center

This was our first visit, and we’d happily recommend this Hampton Inn to friends and keep it on our list for another stay. Check-in was quick and friendly, and our room was clean and quiet. The hotel atmosphere felt both quiet and busy. We were on the side overlooking the parking lot, away from the highway, though I can’t say whether that made our room quieter.

I usually try to stay at Hampton hotels when I travel, and this one had one of the best hot breakfasts I’ve had at a Hampton Inn over the years. Jillael, the young man at the counter, was helpful, courteous, and accommodating. Special thanks to him.

We came to town for a wedding. Check-in was very fast and breakfast was good, but sleeping wasn’t great. The heater made a lot of noise when it kicked on, and we could hear highway traffic. Online, the pool was listed as opening at 9, but the pool door said 10, with checkout at 11. Since the wedding was the night before, that left us little time to swim. The pool area had no heat and the water was freezing, like a polar plunge.

I’m a Hilton Friends and Family member and haven’t had problems at other hotels, but I’ll never stay at this one again, even though I’m in the area often. We booked four rooms, and only three were ready at the 3 p.m. check-in. We made do because we had to leave for an event by 4, but had to keep checking at the front desk for the last room after asking them to text us when it was ready. My daughter used that room for 40 minutes before we left, returned at 10:30 p.m., and checked out at 8:30 the next morning. Then I was charged $250 for damage. She’s a grown woman who only slept there and didn’t damage anything. I can only assume they hadn’t properly checked the room after the previous guest because it wasn’t ready and they were rushing to clean it. I contacted them right away, but they wouldn’t refund the charge.
