Holiday Inn Garland by IHG

There was plenty of free parking, the location was easy to find, and check-in with the super nice staff went smoothly. My room was clean and laid out well, with updated lights that made it easy to see. The yellow walls and outdated outlets looked old, and some light switches didn’t work and probably should be removed. The A/C worked very well, and I appreciated the water pressure most of all. I didn’t try breakfast.

Front desk staff were consistently kind, professional, and helpful during my stay. My complaint is with upper management and how they handled my tax exemption request after an extended stay. I believe Texas law bases the exemption on consecutive occupancy, not on whether the hotel uses one continuous reservation. I was told I didn’t qualify because I checked in and out daily, a process controlled by the hotel, and the General Manager said exemption only applied to one continuous reservation. That doesn’t match my understanding of the law. I raised the issue multiple times, but management was dismissive and doubled down instead of considering a misunderstanding or trying to resolve it. It’s disappointing to see IHG represented this way, especially when loyal, long-term guests shouldn’t have to fight to have the law applied properly. Future guests in a similar situation should learn about Texas occupancy tax law and keep detailed records.

Great sleep, a pretty good room, and hardly any noise from outside or the neighbors. I liked the bed and pillows, which is rare for me, and the AC worked well. The location is great, and having Lazy Dog next door is a big plus. Best Holiday Inn of 2026 for me, and probably the best travel hotel I’ve had in 20 years on the road, even while they’re in the middle of a remodel. This is my new Go-To hotel stop in Dallas.

The king premium room had plenty of space, with two beds in separate rooms and a pull-out bed. The beds and rooms were good, staff were friendly and accommodating, and there are several good restaurants, stores, and things to do nearby. The remodel brought the rating down for me. There was no pool or breakfast, and moving between the elevator and the entrance or exit was very cramped.
