Holiday Inn Express & Suites Garland E - Lake Hubbard I30 by IHG

The room was just okay, with stains on the carpet and couch, and it smelled as if someone had smoked in it. I hated the cigarette odor. I called the overnight guy to ask if there was a help desk number for getting the Wi-Fi set up on our PS5. Other IHG/Holiday Inn hotels we’ve stayed at could help with that, but he said, “nah, I don’t have a number and I don’t have the time to check for you.” I hung up. Check-in was smooth, and the woman who helped us was very nice. She’s the only reason I’m giving this any stars. This was probably the worst Holiday Inn I’ve ever stayed at.

The lake views were beautiful, and it’s only a short walk to get near the water. Leslie and Mgr Z were kind and patient explaining things, and the customer service was amazing. They were accommodating whenever I had an issue. Some rooms need more work than others, but the ones I had were spacious, clean, and very nice. There were a few ants, nothing major. Breakfast was always good, and the atmosphere around the hotel was pretty cool. Highly recommend.

After a long day of fieldwork, I dreaded coming back to this hotel each night, so I left early. As a Diamond member who stays at many Holiday Inn hotels each year, I usually enjoy my stays, but this one was extremely disappointing. There were broken or damaged outlets and overhead lights that didn’t work, leaving the room dingy and dark. I also saw trash and discarded clothes in the stairwell and cockroaches in the main floor hallways. The lobby was fine, and the cleaning staff were friendly, but it was still a dispiriting experience. I hope management takes better care of the place.

The location is great, but the hotel and rooms were dirty and didn’t seem well kept. We stayed one night and first got a room without a door lock, with scratch marks all over the headboard and no closet door. The hallway was disgusting, with stains all over the floor, lots of marks on the walls, a muggy feel, and a bad smell. We asked to switch; the second room was a bit better and its halls were better too, but the shower, especially the head and floor, was disgusting. You could still see spray marks on the walls by the bed where they hadn’t been wiped after “cleaning.” The lobby was dirty and breakfast was missing a lot of things. A Holiday Inn we stayed at a few months ago was kept much nicer. I’m not coming back. This wasn’t up to Holiday Inn standards.
