Hampton Inn Raleigh/Clayton I-40

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and felt safe, and the staff were fantastic, kind, friendly, and welcoming. They also suggested places nearby to explore and try, and we always liked their recommendations. We love this hotel!

I canceled my two-week stay because the pet policy felt more like a punishment. It requires staff to enter your room every day, whether you need them to or not. If you don't mind giving up that privacy, it might work for you.

The extra pet rules were the main reason I cut my stay short, canceled a third reservation I'd made for September, and found another place. I travel with my wife and two Pomski service dogs, both medium-sized at about 30 pounds, well trained, and with me wherever I go. I've booked Hilton properties partly because most welcome pets. Hilton's website listed $75 for up to 4 nights and $125 for 5 or more nights here. That's higher than many Hilton locations, but I was willing to pay for the convenience. At check-in, though, I had to sign an extra pet policy from the hotel management that wasn't disclosed on Hilton's reservation site. Most of it seemed reasonable, but it required daily room cleaning, with pets either out of the room or crated from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm for housekeeping. My wife works remotely and needs quiet and privacy for daytime work and online meetings, so having to leave or let staff in during those hours defeated the point of booking a private space. The front desk politely said it was the owner's policy and there were no exceptions. The property was very clean, well maintained, and secure, and the front desk staff were kind and welcoming after my 10-hour drive. Constant cameras around the grounds may bother some people, but I appreciated the security. I'd stayed here before without issues. This visit was for work and family reasons at the Hampton Inn Clayton/Garner in NC. My first booking was for 13 nights, with a 6-night stay planned two weeks later. We were paying $146 per night plus tax for a King Suite Deluxe, $1,925.76 in total, charged to my credit card in full at check-in. After checking out after only 5 nights, I had to wait for the remaining balance to be credited back. At other Hilton properties, I'm more used to paying at checkout for the nights actually stayed, rather than being charged the full reservation up front. It's also an older hotel, built in 1988 and last renovated in 2018. For the rate, I expected more updated furnishings, especially since many pieces showed their age. See photos of room 114. Although the place was clean, I left frustrated and felt unfairly treated by policies that hadn't been made clear before booking. I hope this helps others who value pet accommodations and privacy while traveling. PS, I'm not sure the smoke detector worked. There were no lights showing on it, and it looked like original equipment.

The people here were wonderful. Neely kept the breakfast area spotless and stocked, and Cece, Janicia, and Sandra at the front desk were welcoming and so hospitable. Carmen kept my room perfectly clean, and General Manager Robin showed great leadership. The cleanliness and service went above and beyond. I highly recommend this hotel.
