Holiday Inn Express Clayton by IHG

The staff were friendly, but I wouldn't recommend staying here if you rely on an IHG workout room to keep active while traveling. The property has no nearby sidewalks, so walking or running means using a very busy street. Inside the exercise room, the treadmill had reportedly been broken for two months, and even the clock was dead and needed a battery. The maintenance man told me this at the front desk, sounding proud of it. Staff said the manager, David, is responsible, but is never around. The lack of concern about getting this fixed was a complete failure of hospitality.

The room was just okay, and the breakfast was good. We also found a cockroach in the room, and after we used the towels provided, we weren't given fresh ones. I don't know whether towel replacement depends on how long you stay or if that's a regular problem. For the price, it was a decent enough place, I guess.

Sky was wonderful when I called a week after our stay because I'd left something in the safe. She found my jewelry bag and mailed it straight back to me, which really impressed me. We had a clean, comfortable room, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, and the location made it easy to get to lots of places. It was hot during our visit, so having the pool to cool off in was great. We'll be back, thank you!

The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean enough, but we found the staff unfriendly. There wasn't any coffee in the lobby once breakfast was over, and reviews suggest the gym equipment has been out of order for at least a month. We won't return.
