Getting to the front door means going down a steep set of stairs, and parking is awkward. From the street, the first thing we noticed was the tall weeds. If they have someone handling maintenance, they aren’t getting their money’s worth. Inside, the supplies were very scant, with just one dish towel. There must be people stealing things for them to leave so little. The sliding door locks need repairs, and one door was missing its extra lock. A bear and her cub nearly opened a sliding door while we were in the living room. There’s also a broken curtain rod, a torn screen on the small bedroom’s sliding door, and walls and paint that need work.

We had a great vacation, and the cabin’s location was excellent. It was still comfortable, though it could use some updating. I also would’ve liked newer kitchen things, like an air fryer, a four-slice toaster, and a newer blender.

For over $3,000 a week, there’s no excuse for these conditions. We live locally and have stayed in plenty of cabins over the years, and I’d be ashamed to charge someone for this one. The stairs had slick algae on them, and the railing down them was rotten and lying on the steps. The second railing was rotten too. Inside, many areas needed attention, and at least three smoke alarms were going off with low batteries. They hadn’t been checked since 2017. I’m sure the owners won’t respond to this review, but plenty of renters will see it and may change their minds.

The condition of the cabin was shocking. It looked very worn compared with the online photos, and it was clear it hadn’t had a detailed cleaning in a while. There were falling-apart lamps and furniture, lamps without shades, missing light bulbs, and towels with holes. The bedroom sliding doors were almost impossible to open. Worst of all, we found mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers. I sent Haven the same photos I’m posting here. I contacted Haven before leaving this review. All they said was, “we’re sorry. We’ll pass it on”. We were also let down by a few things we’d specifically counted on. I chose a cabin with a fire pit because that was my father-in-law’s one request, and the Airbnb description said there was one. The oven didn’t work, a problem I’d already seen in an earlier review. A street light shone into the window while we slept. I called about it, and someone was supposed to handle it, but no one came. I didn’t call again because I didn’t want to spend vacation dealing with it, so I took care of it myself. This trip was for three special occasions: my in-laws’ 50th anniversary, my father-in-law’s 70th birthday, and my 50th birthday. It was such a disappointment.
