Gatlinburg itself is definitely worth the trip, but I'd stay anywhere else. Our supposed clean room had stained floors, the floor was uneven, and the door wouldn't open properly. The shower barely worked right. Breakfast amounted to dry cereal and milk, and the juice machine was out of order with no sign of it being fixed. The pool was closed. This hotel was absolute trash. A park bench would be a better choice.
The beds were hard, and there was no smart TV, just cable. The outdoor pool was closed, while the indoor one was cloudy and felt like ice water. The elevators didn't work, so we had to haul our luggage up a steep, slippery ramp. There wasn't even an ice machine on the second floor.
I'll book here again. The rooms were really clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower pressure was amazing. It's right on the strip in Gatlinburg, next to my favorite winery. Honestly, this was one of the better hotels I've stayed at.
This time the room was nice, there was hot water, and for the price the stay was great once we got checked in. We arrived around 8 PM last night after a short drive down, and nobody was at the desk for at least half an hour. I'm not sure what the young woman who eventually showed up had been doing. A few years ago we'd taken a short trip here and had a terrible time in a hot tub room because there wasn't much hot water. The front desk gave us a lot of attitude when we asked to move to the opposite building. They eventually put us in a balcony room facing the strip, which had a great view. It was a little less decent, but that building also had very little hot water.
There were stink bugs all over the room, and the hot tub was basically pool water with jets. At 8 PM there was no cold water running to it, only hot, but the water still ended up barely warm. I booked the room with a hot tub for our anniversary after we had to leave our cabin early because a winter storm was coming. When I turned on the heater, it smelled like something burning. I thought maybe it just needed dusting after sitting unused, so I opened the balcony door beside it. The smoke detector immediately went off. I shut the heater down and told the man at the front desk. He seemed annoyed that I'd interrupted his music. He said nobody had used it in a while and he'd probably need to "change it." I was confused since the heater was built into the wall, and clarified, "the heater." With a disgusted look, he said, "the smoke detector." I told him the detector was doing its job and the heater was the problem. He asked if I wanted another room. Yes. Then I was told it was the only one left like mine. The woman who helped me the night before, from Jamaica, was amazing and so, so nice.
