Hampton Inn Gatlinburg Historic Nature Trail

The property has a nice indoor pool and outdoor hot tub, but we probably wouldn’t choose it again. Both nights, the garbage truck emptied the dumpsters at 3 am and woke us up. That isn’t the hotel’s fault, though. As soon as we entered the room, we saw that the mattress was in rough shape. The sheets had been tucked into the mattress protector, leaving a stain visible, and the bed was very uncomfortable. It seems past its prime. The front desk staff also came across as unfriendly, sitting there like zombies most of the time. A few changes could make this place great, but we’ll try somewhere else next time.

The staff were nice, and there’s a small, cute firepit area by the water. Still, this place wasn’t for me. The rooms look like hospital rooms, though they were clean apart from the sheets. I brought a black light and saw spots and handprints on them. I also missed having an outdoor pool. Trash trucks outside woke us each night around 3 to 4 am.

The room was quiet, everything worked as it should, and there were plenty of towels. We had a great time relaxing in the Jacuzzi. As soon as we stepped inside, it smelled fresh and clean, like it had just been cleaned. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the hotel was fantastic. We’re still planning to visit other places in Gatlinburg, but we’ll definitely stay here again.

The location made it easy to leave the car behind, with the Gatlinburg strip about a half-mile walk away. We even spotted a bear in the parking lot and probably the same one from our balcony over the creek. We spent five days and four nights here with the kids. Beth at the front desk was so welcoming, always stopping for a smile and a chat. She complimented our daughter’s glasses, which made her day. Housekeeping also kept up with the room daily, making the beds, changing towels, and tidying the bathroom and trash. We hadn’t realized daily service was included, so coming back to a clean room after a long day was a treat. Our main-floor room, #2, had two queen beds, a pullout couch, and two TVs. The bathroom door didn’t lock, so we had to call out when it was in use, but that was manageable. Breakfast had waffles, sausage, potatoes, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juice. The indoor pool was great for the kids, and the large outdoor hot tub was lovely in the chilly November weather. The other guests, including the kids, kept it peaceful. We’d happily stay here again with family.
