Historic Rocky Waters Inn, A Small Luxury Hotel

Sitting on the balcony with morning coffee and the stream below was so relaxing. I loved how tucked away the rooms felt. The room was clean, and the hotel breakfast was the best I’ve had. A really nice stay, and we’ll be back.

We loved breakfast at The Heirloom Room, fresh and made to order, and it was nice not having to leave the property to start the day. The location was convenient for walking everywhere, while still being far enough from the noise and crowds. The riverfront setting at Historic Rocky Waters Inn is special, especially with a private balcony where we could sit and listen to the water. The whole place felt calm from arrival, with thoughtful details and a spotless, beautifully designed room that felt more like a boutique hotel than a typical mountain stay. Since it’s adults-only, the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, more retreat than busy tourist hotel. Every staff member we met was warm, friendly, and welcoming. We’d absolutely return and recommend it to anyone wanting a clean, quiet, more elevated stay in Gatlinburg.

The staff were amazing and very responsive, and having The Heirloom Room on site was a lifesaver. Its good food and uncrowded dining room let us enjoy a meal when the town’s restaurants were packed with no availability. The room, in Majestic Glen, was very small and felt more like a motel than a luxury hotel. The toilet was only about a foot and a half from the bed, and if we didn’t slide the door closed, it was a ghastly sight. The photos were quite deceiving. There was no common area, and with the balcony too cold to use, we had nowhere to relax in the room. The hotel sits on the busiest street in town. Over Thanksgiving, bumper-to-bumper traffic meant an hour to travel one mile getting out. We’d hoped for a relaxing time, but found it totally overpriced at almost $450 a night.

The balcony had rockers and a water view that made us want to stay in the room. No key to keep track of, just an easy door code, and everything we needed was right there. The staff were outstanding, the bartender was great, and the restaurant felt equal to a 10-star establishment.
