MainStay Suites Gatlinburg Downtown Area

For the price, the room was nice and clean and I can’t really complain. I was a little disappointed about breakfast, though. When I booked through a third party, I was told it was free, and that was a big part of why we picked this hotel. They stopped serving it three months ago and now offer just 10% off at the pancake house next door, which isn’t much of a discount. Google still says the hotel has free breakfast.

The hotel is off Gatlinburg’s main strip, but getting downtown was easy. Parking did cost $20. The staff were great, every team member we met was really nice and accommodating.

Donna made our wedding weekend feel so welcoming and comfortable. My husband and I got married in Gatlinburg a couple of weeks ago and chose this hotel for ourselves and a hotel block for our guests. It was the best choice. My husband travels for work and has stayed in countless hotels, and he said this was the friendliest and best-managed one he’d experienced. Donna was helpful from my first email about the room block months ahead of time. She replied quickly whenever I had questions or changes, and made the whole process stress-free. She checked in with us throughout the weekend, helped us feel at home, and even offered space for us to assemble welcome bags. She cares about guests and staff, and her positive, caring attitude showed every day. I looked forward to seeing her. The other staff were wonderful too. Carlos was especially personable and made sure we had what we needed. We’re grateful to Donna and this MainStay for being such a positive part of our big weekend. Choice Hotels is lucky to have her.

The room seemed clean, the price was affordable, and the location was convenient. There are nearby stops for the free trolley, or you can walk to downtown Gatlinburg in an fairly easy 20-30 minutes, mostly downhill. The unit has a kitchen, and they offered 10% off at the pancake place next door. Just know that breakfast is no longer served here. It wasn’t especially quiet, even though the hotel didn’t seem very busy. Garbage collection happened outside on all three nights, between 3 and 5 am, with clanking dumpsters and a beeping truck. That’s a rough way to wake up. Given the floor noise other reviewers mentioned, I’d ask for a higher-level room and try for one on the east side of the building.
