The women working at checkout were VERY PLEASANT, and we even saw a bear while walking to watch the parade. The hotel is within a walk of the strip, not too far though it takes a little while, and the area around it looks rough and run down. So does the hotel itself. The carpet on the lobby stairs was disgusting. We went during parade weekend because our usual place had no room to add to our stay, which I’d booked the year before. At arrival I waited 15 minutes in the office before a maintenance man said check-in was at 4pm and nobody would be at the desk before then. It was 3, so that was strange, but I let it go. Before check-in, while we were sitting in the parking lot, police cars and then EMS arrived. Our room door only had the turn lock, with no top lock. This was our first and last stay. If all you need is somewhere to sleep, you could try it, but for a few days in town, I’d look elsewhere.

The room was quiet enough for a mountain trip, but I found caked-on dust and mold across the bathroom and into the room. I saw room service going through rooms, so I don’t know how it could have been overlooked for so long. The curtain had holes and the chair was scratched, though those weren’t terrible. The bigger issue was how impossible it was to reach anyone in the main office. Someone was there for about 10 minutes at check-in and checkout, but otherwise the “we’ll be back soon!” sign stayed up and the office was empty. One of the last days, I sat in the lobby and called for 10 minutes. The phone rang through the building, but nobody answered or came to the front while the doorbell rang. We left for a couple of activities, came back about 2 hours later, and the same sign was still there with no one around. When the lobby was staffed once, there were 4 people behind the desk, so it didn’t look like a staffing shortage. I also felt unsafe all week after an older male employee stared at my husband, then followed him outside and watched until he got to our room when he went to the lobby for coffee before dawn in a hoodie. It was clear the man had noted our room. I wanted his name. When I saw him again and my husband confirmed it was the same person, I asked what that was about. He said he didn’t work in the lobby, told us to ask the lobby staff, and then ignored us. My husband is Hispanic, and I’m sure that had something to do with it. I’d like to report this to someone. It’s cheap, so it might suit a strict budget, but expect to be racially profiled and stay surrounded by black mold.

It’s handy for walking to the strip, but there was a lot wrong with our stay. After getting everything set up on arrival, we came back at night and took a closer look. There was blood in the bathroom bath, hair on the towels, and a terrible smell in the room. The beds were hard as rocks. If you don’t want to wake up stiff all over, DO NOT come here.

The creekside scenery is beautiful, and we didn’t see any bugs. Just remember that bears roam here, so PLEASE DO NOT FEED BEARS OR APPOACH THEM. AS ITS ILLEGAL. I love thie motel 6, the people are really sweet. There’s hot coffee at the check out entrance desk 24 hrs., and the maids are awesome. Aldean at the front desk is a very sweet lady who works hard.

Our first room was wide open when we arrived, with the TV on the floor, the bed unmade, and a moldy, smoky smell. It looked like someone had broken in. The second room was a bit better and had a fireplace and fridge, but the front desk person didn’t know why the first room was like that. When I reported the problems, the front desk worker, a black woman with short hair, long fingernails, and a Nigerian accent, was very rude. She insisted we’d gone to the wrong room and wouldn’t acknowledge the issues. She barely wanted to give me a refund.
