We loved the pool slide and the comfortable pool chairs, and breakfast was much better than at other hotels we've tried. The pancake machine makes great pancakes! The man at the front desk who wears a hat was especially kind, even coming out to give a 15 minute last-swim call. Every front desk employee we've met seemed to love their job. The room was clean, rustic, and had a comfortable bed and a very large TV. The hotel is right across the street from the Holt Herbert Park kids only fishing area, which we use often when visiting the Gatlinburg/PF area. We've traveled here several times a year for decades and usually stay at a Hilton or Marriott. If you're after a rustic, quaint, friendly place, this is it.

The fire pits, pools, and complimentary breakfast added a lot to our stay, and the breakfast was great. We also liked how convenient the location was for exploring Gatlinburg while still being quiet enough at night. Our room was roomy, comfortable, and well maintained. The Appalachian Trail theme gave The Appy Lodge a warm feel, and the hotel was clean and nicely decorated. Staff were friendly, professional, and happy to offer directions and recommendations. The hospitality and attention to cleanliness made the trip memorable. We'd gladly stay at The Appy Lodge again and recommend it to anyone visiting Gatlinburg.

That first trip to Gatlinburg took a lot of planning, and Appy Lodge worked out really well. It sits just outside the strip, with a trolley stop right at the hotel, and I liked having both indoor and outdoor pools plus breakfast. The room felt cozy and looked great, with clean hardwood floors. I especially liked being able to shut the bedroom door between it and the living room. There was a king bed, pullout couch, fireplace, and two TVs. Staff were patient and helpful with all my questions, and they even put out complimentary snacks and drinks between lunch and dinner. I'd gladly recommend it.

We spent three nights at Appy Lodge and had a really relaxing stay. Our third-floor room was by the pool and had two queen beds and a balcony. After a day of shopping and attractions, sitting outside there at night was lovely. We played the 18-hole mini golf course out front on two different nights, too. The rustic decor was a hit, and both the room and hotel were among the cleanest places we've stayed. Everyone on staff was friendly. We love the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area, so my wife is already talking about booking another visit. Only regret is we didn't have time to see it all, LOL.

The location has some nice things nearby, including a playground and fishing spot down the road and across the street, plus a pancake place next door. Getting out of the lot later in the evening can be tricky, though, so I'd use the light. The trolley can also take patience. We had no trouble ourselves, but the purple line is a transfer route for people coming from Pigeon Forge, so getting where you're going may take a while. As for the room, the bathroom was okay, but the main room was really dirty. The lighting is harsh, and I wondered if the cleaners could see the floor properly. The floors and spaces around the bed were close to motel-level bad. Linens felt rough, and the spare set had dark stains that might have been dried blood. The pullout couch bedding was gross too. If that couch is offered, it should be cleaned. With toddlers along, all of this made the stay harder. This is meant to be a family vacation place, please do better.
