Holiday Inn Express and Suites George West by IHG

The towels were stained, the microwaves and fridges were dirty, and the chairs sank almost to the floor when you sat down. I checked the mattress dates and they were expired. The shower heads were covered in green mildew, the TVs were old with no local channels, and breakfast was all frozen food. The hallways and rooms smelled, and this is a really old, run-down property. The reviews look fake to me, just meant to raise the rating. You'd be better off driving 30 minutes to a better hotel. I'd recommend Alice, or this place really needs a renovation. Just a really, really bad stay.

I gave this place another chance to see if it could impress me, and it did. The manager is always around, either at the front desk or busy with something else. The staff are great, the rooms are clean, and breakfast is awesome.

A case of water and dirty hotel towels left on the bathroom floor were enough for them to say I hadn't checked out and to charge me extra. They say four housekeepers saw that and decided the room was still occupied. If the first housekeeper hadn't cleaned it, that suggests the room wasn't being cleaned at all. There were no clothes, suitcase, or person in the room, just the water and used towels. What a sad excuse for a hotel. I'll never stay again and don't recommend it to anyone.

This is clearly the nicest place in town. Emanuel (Manny) is an incredible GM, and he's got a great staff who work hard to keep the hotel clean and in good shape. Breakfast has lots of options.
