Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

The staff are exceptionally friendly, and I had a quiet evening and slept well. After many years staying here and at the equally deteriorated campground, I'll still come back to visit Patti’s Settlement, though this isn't my first choice anymore. Each year, sadly, things seem to get worse. My two-day room was clean enough, in a very dated 1970s kind of way, and had no smells. But there was no refrigerator, the ice machine was broken, and there's no laundry. The faucet leaks, water pressure is low, and the water looks milky and unclear, which doesn't seem healthy to me. The outlets are extremely loose and feel unsafe. The heat was okay, but the AC didn't work; leaving the doors open cooled the room better. The TV had the usual useless cheap programming nobody watches. The balcony looks out on the lake and dam, but it was filthy, with an ashtray and cigarette ashes and insect nests everywhere. There's plenty of parking and hardly anyone around. The restaurant is closed as usual, with changing, chaotic hours no one can keep up with. WiFi is unsafe. There's a 3-inch gap under the entry door, letting in light and air, and it looks big enough for bugs, mice, or snakes given the landscaping. The gift shop was open. Ask if you want a military or senior discount. Bring your own pillows for comfort.
